Marcus writes the statistics guides on this site. He is not a statistician or a university instructor, and no page here claims otherwise; the title under his name reads "Contributing Writer" because that is the actual job. What he brings to a guide is a habit of treating the calculator's own code as the reference point, not a formula recalled from memory. Before a worked example goes on a page, he runs it a second time by hand with a different data set, then checks that result against what the matching calculator on this site actually returns for the same input, which is how a page and its calculator get caught quietly drifting apart before a reader ever notices.
He also checks which formula variant applies before writing about it: sample standard deviation against population standard deviation, a z critical value against a t critical value, one-tailed against two-tailed. Where a claim needs an outside source, he traces it to something a reader can check directly, the NIST Engineering Statistics Handbook or OpenStax Introductory Statistics, rather than repeating whatever a search result said first.

Chris built StatsCalc's fourteen calculators and runs the site through Encore Promotional Products, alongside the sibling calculator sites linked in the footer. He does not carry the byline on any guide here; his job is the second check. Before one of Marcus's drafts publishes, Chris confirms the worked example on the page reproduces what the matching calculator returns for the same input, and that the formula variant named in the text, sample or population, z or t, is the one the calculator's code actually runs.
What he checks on the calculators themselves: that every formula matches the source named on the editorial standards page, that a reader-reported mismatch between a calculator's output and a textbook answer gets re-derived by hand and fixed the same week it is reported, and that a correction to a published figure is dated on the page rather than edited quietly.
Why neither profile invents a credential
A calculator site can put an unverifiable "Ph.D. statistician" on a byline nobody with that background actually wrote. Neither Marcus's title nor Chris's claims that. If a page here ever carries a credentialed contributor's byline, that person will have genuinely written or reviewed it, and this section will name the credential so a reader can check it independently. Until then, the guides are written by someone whose credibility rests on rechecking the arithmetic, not on a degree, and the calculators are owned by someone who treats a wrong figure as a bug to fix rather than a detail to defend.
